I gave in and watched it. The moment I turned it on, I had to turn it back off for a moment because they were dissing Bush Sr., Al Gore, Rahm Emmanual and the other Dem's refused to clap when it was appropriate to and they entered the stage. I mean, he's an old man, no threat to them and, he's certainly tried to reach out. It was the most disrespectful act to the office of the president I have ever seen. But as a result, I missed W, unfortunately.
My initial reaction is, I must say, although it was a beautiful day in D.C. it was the most dark, uninspired, and almost scary inaugural speech I have ever heard.
My second thought was, you could literally see the aloof animosity towards the Bushes, the only Republicans in sight, visible in the air. That was extremely discouraging, and it frightens me that people this unintelligent, this juvenile, short-sighted and weak, are now in charge of our nation. Very disrespectful to our highest office. No class!
Third, what struck me about the speech was that it was so negative! So uninspirational. I know many of you may not agree with me, but it was offensive that, like a campaign speech, it was filled with lies about who is responsible for this economic mess. I mean, the economy was fine until 2006 when the Democrats took over control of Congress- and removed all Republican Chairs that were in charge of oversight and replaced them with Democrats. And, as we all know, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were put in charge of oversight of banks, finance and Fannie mae and Freddie mac. Not to mention the morally wrong laws passed during Carter's term and enforced by Acorn lawyers, (including BHO), that mandated banks to give mortgage loans to anyone, regardless of ability to pay. And, the decision to insure those loans. I mean, come on! The truth is the truth!
The Socialistic theme of the day was genuinely creepy. Talking about how the system "rewards" the "rich", and the robs the "poor". Our system of free enterprise enables anyone to reward themselves, anyone who's williing to work hard can experience success in America!
And, the racial references were insulting. I mean, here we are inaugurating the first Black President, enabled by white voters to be where he is, and they're still crying racism????
They can not and never will give up their animosity. It appears to be their strength.
Creepy... more thoughts later. Got to get back to work.
REmember, it's Still a Conservative Country!
Mary
